Chairperson Probus Association of Gauteng South
I was born in Cornwall at the end of 1945, the only child
of a Cornish maid & a father who hailed from Co. Durham.
I spent quite a idyllic childhood in a Cornish seaside town, learnt to swim /in the Atlantic Rollers, went riding my bike with a picnic in my saddle & had plenty of friends so was never lonely. I passed my 11+ & went to the local Grammar School until an ominous event to place soon after my 14th birthday WE MOVED TO THE COTSWOLDS & School was never the same for me, consequently I left school after taking my “O” Levels & started working as a Buyers Assistant for a large International Clothing Company.
I met my husband, Steve, when I was 16 & married just before my 21st birthday. I have 2 sons & 1 daughter, 4 grandsons & 2 grand-daughters & 2 very special great-grand-daughters.
I was an active member of Toastmistress for many years &
was the Chairman of my Children’s High School PTA for 4 years, have served on various committee’s & my last employment was as a Credit Manager for a FMCG company where I managed a diverse staff of 20.
I have been retired now for 12years & I enjoy reading & the theatre, Play Bridge, like both Crosswords & Sudoku, am a self confessed TV addict but my best is getting together with family & friends.
